Sarah!
Hi, I’m
I’m Sarah Alexandra, a Functional Nutritionist with a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition and currently am in my third year of medical training to become an MD. My mission is to bridge the gap between Western medicine and preventative nutrition by combining the strengths of both approaches. I believe that objective data is the key to optimizing health, because everyone is bio-individual and what works for one person may not work for another. By uncovering biochemical imbalances, genetic tendencies, and unique toxin burdens, I believe it is possible to prevent many common illnesses that affect Americans today. My passion is helping women get to the root cause of their symptoms, heal naturally, and create healthier, more vibrant lives through personalized nutrition and lifestyle strategies.
My Approach
-
Every protocol is backed by the most up to date peer-reviewed scientific research, ensuring that all protocols are grounded in proven scientific methods for sustainable, safe, and effective results.
-
Each client's full health history, biochemistry, lifestyle, and circumstances are reviewed comprehensively to address the root-cause rather than just trying to fix symptoms.
-
Recognizing that each person has unique genetics, lifestyle factors, and health needs, protocols are fully individualized to create tailored solutions that promote optimal wellness.
My Story
I’ve jumped from every fad diet possible, constantly trying to chase what would heal my chronic bloating, fatigue, puffiness, and stubborn weight gain throughout college.
It wasn’t until I truly balanced my diet, dived into the peer-reviewed research on effective supplement protocols for gut healing, and had functional testing done to uncover nutrient deficiencies and chronic infections, that I was finally able to begin healing my body naturally.
I decided to pursue my Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition, and now my MD Degree, in order to learn all of the anatomy, physiology, & biochemical pathways of the human body to better understand the role vitamins and minerals play in cellular health.
I’ve found the lack of nutrition education among the Western medical system to be astounding. Where pharmaceuticals mostly chase symptoms, I’m here to educate you on root-cause approach healing.

FAQs

Functional nutrition focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of health issues rather than just treating symptoms.
Functional nutrition uses an holistic approach, taking into consideration how various factors like diet, lifestyle, genetics, and environmental influences affect an individual's health. It emphasizes the use of food as medicine, tailoring dietary interventions to support the body's natural healing processes.

Functional lab testing is essential to find the root-cause of health issues by assessing markers related to gut health, hormones, nutrients, and more to precisely identify imbalances and dysfunctions that may be contributing to a patient's symptoms.
Unlike conventional tests that might only flag overt disease states, functional labs offer a more nuanced picture, allowing for early intervention and personalized treatment plans.
The GI-MAP test, in particular, uses advanced Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology, which has extremely high sensitivity and specificity. PCR can detect even minute amounts of DNA from various pathogens, including bacteria, parasites, and viruses, in the gastrointestinal tract. This high level of sensitivity ensures a more accurate assessment of gut health, making it possible to identify hidden imbalances or infections that might be missed by less sensitive testing methods.

Everyone is unique based off of individual health issues and duration of symptoms. I work with clients for a minimum of 3 months, as the body takes time to heal and introducing too many changes at once can be difficult. 3 months can be enough time to see lasting changes, but keep in mind nutrition and lifestyle changes are a lifelong habit.
I offer options for clients who need continuing support.
